St. Louis Herb Society Cook Book, 1973, 1975, in Nearly Mint Condition: Cookbook compiled by the membership of the St. Louis Herb Society, St. Louis, Missouri. First published in 1973. This copy from the 1975 second printing. 152 pages. Plastic comb binding. Book is nearly in as-if-new condition. See that white spot at the top left of the cover? That’s the only flaw in this book. Pages are all clean and clear. Binding is perfect.
As you can easily imagine, the cookbook compiled by a herb society is very strong in the imaginative use of herbs and spices. It contains many dishes I’ve never seen elsewhere, dishes like deviled almonds, wine and rosemary cocktail sausages, lentil soup with cardamon and garlic, cream of Florence fennel soup, ruby soup, ginger-cheese salad, saffron bread, and dill weed bread. Be sure to read the little “hints” in this cookbook. Did you know the bulb of Florence fennel can be cut like celery sticks and added to the relish tray?
