Description
Formal Dinners by Julia Papin Gooding, 1940: A splendid, ambitious, and overlooked cookbook written by Julia Papin Gooding and published in 1940 by Houghton Mifflin Company, the Riverside Press, Boston. Gooding provides her family collection of French Creole recipes never before published. She combines these with favorite recipes from New England, New Orleans, and the South. And she does this by first constructing elegant, elaborate menus for formal dinners, Christmas dinner, a men’s dinner, game dinners, luncheons, pot lucks, supper dishes, salads, and a clam bake. There are also chapters with cocktail canapes and hors d’oeuvres, and a chapter on drinks.
This copy is a presumed first edition, first printing. The dust jacket has lots of shelf wear. It is now safely protected in Mylar. The book is in mint condition. Definitely gift quality.
