Mexican Cookbook, by Erna Fergusson, 1945: With charming wood cut illustrations by Li Browne. Cookbook first published in 1934, this copy is from the 1945 revision by the University of New Mexico Press, Albuquerque. (Originally published in 1934 by The Rydal Press, Santa Fe, New Mexico.) This copy from the sixth printing. Hard board cover covered in red linen.  120 pages.   Hinges in good condition.  Binding solid.  Pages all clear and clean.  The dust jacket has  some small nicks, but it is still very bright and attractive..  The book is as-if-new.  Simply perfect.

These recipes given to Fergusson by Dona Lola Chaves Armijo. Many recipes have both Spanish and English names. Fergusson takes pains to explain, “The recipes in this book are limited to those which were in common use when the province of New Mexico was a part of the Republic of Mexico. They represent Mexican cookery that belongs to the United States.”
