Cupid’s Book from San Francisco and Oakland, California, 1939: Paperback cookbook for new brides published by Kiessling Publishing Co., Oakland, California. More than 65 pages filled with homey recipes and lots of local and national advertisement, including some great graphics. First page is a marriage record (I’ve taken the bride’s and groom’s out of the image) of a marriage that took place on October 14, 1939. Also includes many pages of handy facts, like table setting diagrams, menu planning suggestions, tips about stain removal, and more.
Stuffed with additional recipes, this booklet was clearly treasured by its original owner. The front and back edges were carefully reinforced with masking tape. Most of the pages are clean and clear. This booklet is a treasure for people interested in San Francisco and Oakland history.
