Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book 50th Anniversary Edition: A commemorative edition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Better Homes and Gardens. Published by Better Homes and Gardens Books, New York and Des Moines, and Meredith Corporations in 1968. This copy is from the 1972 fifth printing. Five-ring binder. 400 pages. I was surprised that there were five printings, because that would indicate more than a few were printed. Actually, it is very difficult to find a copy of this cookbook. This copy is in nearly mint condition. The cover has a very few dings from shelf wear. The pages are absolutely clean and clear. The tabs aren’t even bent! Wonderful gift!

At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
