Food for Victory: Kerr Home Canning Book, 1942: Great illustration of recipes and history cooperating. Kerr Home Canning Book published in 1942 by the Kerr Glass Mfg. Corp. 56 pages. Cover has a great deal of shelf wear, including a 1″ square torn off the bottom edge of the front cover. Inside pages are all clean and clear. Annual booklet from the Kerr Glass Manufacturing Corp., Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Los Angeles, California, and Huntington, West Virginia. Ruth Kerr, president of the company, always published a greeting on the inside front cover of the booklet. This 1942 booklet refers to the United States World War II effort and to Kerr’s contribution to “our country’s Blueprint for World Security.”

56-page booklet in mint condition. Interesting facts about the process of canning. Did you know that 12 pounds of asparagus yields 6 pint jars full? Or that nine baskets of cherries would yield two pint jars full of pitted cherries? 15 pineapples yield 30 pint jars, and one bushel of tomatoes yields 20 quart jars full.
