Leone’s Italian Cookbook, by Gene Leone, Foreward by Dwight D. Eisenhower. Published in 1967 by Harper and Row, New York. Hard cover with dust jacket, 244 pages. Book is mint. Dust jacket has a few very minor dings. Over 300 recipes from restaurant started in New York City by Mother Leone in 1906. Mother Leone started her restaurant in her living room. In 1959, the restaurant would serve as many as 6000 clients every evening. Along with the restaurant’s recipes, Leone presents the history of the restaurant and many ancedotes involving some of their devoted clients, including President Truman, President Eisenhower, Enrico Caruso, Victor Herbert, Liberace, and W. C. Fields.
