Wine Drops Harmony Circle Cook Book, 1902

Wine Drops from Harmony Circle Cook Book, 1902, Compiled and Edited by Alice Wilder McClelland:  Fancy dessert recipe from Syracuse, New York.

Harmony Circle Cook Book, 1902, Compiled and Edited by Alice Wilder McClelland:  second edition, first printing.  Small cookbook in excellent antique condition.  Hardback with boards covered with richly textured green linen.  Charming chef carrying a covered dish on the front.  Cover has some shelf wear, including a 1/4″ square torn from the spine cover.  (I can’t imagine how that happened.)  Binding is firm.  Hinges are perfect.  Compiled and edited by Alice Wilder McClelland.  145 completely clean and clear pages, printed on richly textured cotton rag paper.  Plus 15 pages of illustrated local advertising.  The Circle raised money to support a fresh air fund to take into the country the sick and crippled children from their local Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Recipes are for soups, fish, entrees, meats, salads, pies, puddings, fancy desserts, cakes, breads, pickles and preserves, chafing dish dishes, and candies.  The fancy desserts!  They include dishes like Angel Parfait, California Frozen Punch, Iced Diplomate, Delmonico Ice Cream, Marshmallow Tortoni, and many, many more.  You probably shouldn’t read this chapter if you are hungry.
