Southern Gardener and Receipt Book, by P. Thornton of Camden, South Carolina, was first published in 1839. The second edition was printed for the author by A.L. Dennis, Newark, New Jersey, in 1845. This copy is from the Antique American Cookbooks series, published by Oxmoor House, Inc., in 1984. It has a additional introduction, “Patron Saint of the Kitchen Garden,” by Shirley Abbott. Mint condition. Even the ribbon book marker and the gilt on the page edges are in mint condition!
