River Road Recipes: The first River Roads Recipes volume, published by the Junior League of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1959. This copy is from a later printing. (In 1980, the Junior League of Baton Rouge announced that the sales of River Road Recipes and River Road Recipes II earned $1,000,000 for the Community Trust Fund.) A comprehensive cookbook, River Road Recipes also has chapters on “How Men Cook” and “Food to Serve Fifty.” Hard cover. Plastic comb binding. 270 pages. Excellent vintage condition. Nearly as-if-new. Every page is clean and clear.
These Junior League-ers must have been generous women with large families. Not many dainty recipes here. Lots of hearty casseroles that serve eight. Or 12.
