Description
Greenwich Village Cookbook, 1969: Greenwich Village Cookbook by Vivian Kramer. First edition, apparent first printing. Approximately 400 recipes from Greenwich Village’s leading restaurants. Published in 1969 by Fairchild Publications, Inc. Hard cover with dust jacket. 512 pages. Dust jacket has some little tears and is missing about 1 1/2″ of the base of the spine cover. The book is in mint condition. Pages are completely clean and binding is firm. (Inside the cover, front and back, is a Village Voice map of Greenwich Village showing all of the restaurants mentioned in this book.) Very elaborate illustrations by Barbara Shapira.
Kramer says she choose the restaurants by their diversity, and the recipes are indeed diverse. She includes restaurants from Bacchus to Chumley’s, from Jai-Alai to Pompeian, from Bitter End to Top of the Gate. Book is definitely gift quality.
