Papagayo: A Mexican Cookbook with a Taste of San Francisco, 1985, Signed by Author Katharine Williams: This is a first edition, first printing copy of the cookbook by Katharine Williams, with Mexican recipes used at the restaurant, Papagayo, that she owned with her husband Al. Al and Katharine Williams were proprietors of the famous Papagayo Room restaurant in San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel and host of the mid-1950s cooking program *Copper Kitchen.” This book was self-published in 1985. It was published as an oversized paperback book with 64 clay-coated pages. The recipes for sauces, appetizers, soups, Mexican specialties, main dishes, desserts. and drinks are illustrated with a Who’s Who of photographs of many, many famous personalities from 1945 until 1961, including Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, Liberace, Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimaggio, Lassie, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Bob Hope, Joe E. Brown, Red Skelton, Sally Rand, Mae West, Ann Sheridan, the Andrews Sisters, Jack Benny, and Raymond Burr. Signatures and sketches by many more celebrities are included.
This cookbook is in nearly mint condition. The pages are clean and clear. The binding is sound. The hinges are perfect. The top right corner of the heavy paper cover is slightly bent.
