Handy Cook Book, 1900, Marion Harland: Here’s one great recipe from Marion Harland’s Handy Cook Book. Brandy Peaches sound delicious, but I don’t think I’ll be making them any time soon.
Of course we have the cookbook. See it here: https://www.vintagecookbook.com/product/handy-cook-book-1905-familiar-talk-cookery-marion-harland/
Handy Cook Book, 1905, With a Familiar Talk on Cookery by Marion Harland: Cookbook published by C. S. Hammond & Co., New York. Hard cover book with 259 pages. This cookbook opens with Harland’s essay on the importance of cooking. Then, she presents an historical essay on Domestic Cookery or the Art of Cooking, where she stresses “The housewife herself must be the angel who casts the spell about the humble board and the lowly fare, and invests them with forms and odors of irresistible attractiveness. This is the true poetry of Domestic Cookery . . .” After those two essays, Harland presents a comprehensive cookbook with recipes from soups to candies and an invalid diet.
