1946 Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book in Near-Mint Condition: Vintage cookbook with an introduction by Dorothy Kirk. Published by Garden City Publishing Company, Inc., New York, in arrangement with The Crowell-Collier Publishing Company and P.F. Collier & Son Corporation. Initially copyrighted in 1942. This copy was published in 1946. Yes, you thought Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book had a cream-colored hard back cover. Or maybe you thought it had a solid black colored hard back cover. This copy is the first I’ve seen with solid dark forest green covered boards. Hard cover, 951 pages.

This copy is in near-mint condition. The white label printed on the cover is flaking a bit at the spine. Otherwise, the cover is perfect. Absolutely pristine. The corners aren’t even bumped. All the pages are clean and clear. The binding is sound. The hinges are perfect. There’s not even a signature on the fly leaf! GREAT gift!

The ending of Dorothy Kirk’s introduction cracks me up. She says, “Let [this cookbook} be your friend. It will see you through the unending rounds of three meals a day.”
