Whole Earth Cook Book, 1972, Cadwallader and Ohr, First Edition, Later Printing

$34.00

Description

Whole Earth Cook Book, 1972, Written by Sharon Cadwallader and Judi Ohr.  Published by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston, in association with San Francisco Book Company.  Cardboard cover with metal spiral binding.  120 pages.

Recipes tested at the Whole Earth Restaurant on the University of California Campus, Santa Cruz, California.  Cookbook was written for cooks “who want to create appetizing meals of high nutritional value by working solely with natural health-giving foods.” Interestingly, this is not a vegetarian cookbook, although it does have a chapter of “Nonmeat Protein Dishes.”

This copy is in excellent vintage condition.  There’s a tiny bit of shelf wear on the cover and the remains of a price tag.  The pages are all clean and clear.  If a cook actually used this cookbook, she was remarkably tidy.

At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
