Alaskan Cook Book, 1960, Bess A.Cleveland. First Edition, First Printing. Mint Condition. Cleveland says in the Foreward that she collected and perfected these recipes from 1936 to 1940. She also says that most of the recipes are in answer to the question, “We’ve caught this big fish, now how do we cook it?” Its easy to imagine being confronted with a large mountain goat and having to come up with mountain goat roast. Book was published by Howell-North, Berkeley, California in 1960. Hard back with 164 pages. Book is in mint condition. Cover is perfect, as are the binding, hinges, and pages.

Besides its long chapter on game, meat and fowl, and other traditional dishes, the book has an excellent chapter on sourdough, also one on “Frontier Formulas,” and one on typically Alaskan menus.
