She also discusses serving customs and gives suggestions on how an American can present an African dinner with some degree of authenticity. Those chapters are followed by a varied and interesting collection of African recipes conveniently arranged by courses.
The book is beautifully illustrated with twelve full-page plates by Diane and Leo Dillion. Each drawing has an artifact or design–a mask, a cooking implement, a ceremonial object, an African go–which is specific to its particular country.
