Iridor Complete Candy Making Course. Candy Manual Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4. 1931, Iris Leonard and Dorit Weigert. All Near Mint Condition.  Published by G. P. Putnam’s Sons, Publishers, New York.  I believe this set of candy making manuals originally came with two additional books about the candy-making business, how to make a profit, how to market, etc.  But these four manuals are the complete texts for the actual candy making.  They are:  No. 1: Bonbons and Other Cream Candies, 36 pages plus four blank pages;  No. 2: Glace and Hard Candies, 25 pages plus four blank pages; No. 3: Caramels and other Chewing Candies, 32 pages plus four blank pages; and No. 4: Chocolates, 27 pages plus four blank pages.

Each booklet has a heavy textured cardboard cover plus a glued binding with heavy tape over binding.  All the pages in all four booklets are completely clean and clear.  As you can see, the covers have lots of superficial shelf wear, but inside, each manual is in mint condition.  Each booklet begins with an Introduction that’s sort of a overview of the candy being discussed.  Then, each booklet moves to very specific instructions for making the candy, with photographs showing what the candy should look like at each stage.  Then, there are recipes for variations on that kind of candy.  Last–and I believe best–there are pages of questions with troubleshooting on how to fix that candy-making problem.

All four manuals for this price.
