Food From America’s Bravest–Signed and Numbered First Printing! Food from America’s Bravest: A North American Experience in Firehouse Cooking. Copyright 1993 by R.G. Adams. Published by Islandog Publications, Rochester, New York. (Later published by Random House, Gramercy, Penguin, and finally again–this time in hardback–by Islandog.) This copy is a signed and numbered copy from the first edition, first printing in 1993 (see image of title page.) It is copy 4762 of the original run of 5000, and it is in as-if-new condition. Pristine! It is a paper covered book with a metal spiral lining. It has a very unusual additional heavy paper dust jacket and a clear inner plastic sheet (Kodacel Acetate Sheet) protecting the paper cover, front and back. The dust jacket has a bit of shelf wear. The book and inner cover are pristine.
Adams solicited these recipes from directly from fire houses around the country. His biography on the flap of the dust jacket says he collected fire house recipes for ten years. The book provides the names of the firefighters who contributed recipes, along the with brief biographies of each. The recipes are all for hearty appetites and large quantities. No low cal recipes here! The book also features some astonishing photographs of actual fires, with careful documentation of the details about the fires and the firefighters involved. Adams says he is an avid firefighter supporter, and it shows in this cookbook.
