Description

Third Twig Cook Book, 1930, Rye, New York: Does anyone out there know if “Twig” is a term affiliated with a church? I’ve had three or four Twig cookbooks, all from different parts of the country, and unrelated, except for the name. It’s a mystery.

The compilers of this cookbook jumped right in to the recipes. There’s no introduction telling about the church group or the town. The title page just says “Third Twig Cook Book” and 1930. Then, it starts with appetizers and canapes. It is a a paperback book with 74 pages of recipes, plus about ten pages of local ads from Rye, New York. Like most locally compiled cookbooks, this one is very strong on desserts. There are lots of them, and they all sound delicious.

The cover on this cookbook has lots of shelf wear and light stains. The edges have small tears. Some pages have more very light stains. The stapled binding is strong and the pages are all completely legible. I can’t find any information at all about this book, or another like it, so it must be pretty darn rare.
