First Edition, First Printing, Sunolia Vaughn Harter: Really interesting cookbook by Sunolia Vaughn Harter (do you think Sunolia is her given name?) Published in 1928 the Household Arts Department of Defensive-Diet League of America, Toledo, Ohio. 8 1/2″ by 11″ hardcover with 211 pages. Some minor shelf wear on the cover, especially the corners. Pages are completely clean and clear. Binding is tight, hinges are perfect.
The founder-director of Defensive-Diet League of America says in the Foreward that this cookbook is the culmination and summary of the first six years’ of the League’s work. The book provides menus and recipes for 11,000 meals, including sauces, salad dressings, garnishes, etc. The “General Directions” for each month are particularly interesting.
