Caramel Recipe from Candy Hits by Zasu Pitts, 1963, 1964

Caramel Recipe from Candy Hits by Zasu Pitts, 1963: The candy recipes in this little book are remarkably clear and they seem very easy to follow. I’ve been looking for a sure fire fudge recipe for a long time. Maybe one of these will be easy enough!

Candy Hits by ZaSu Pitts, 1963, 1964. Cookbook and Hollywood Memoir, compiled by Edi Horton and published in 1963 by Duell, Sloan and Pearce, New York. This copy is from the 1964 second printing. Pitts was an comic actor on the silent screen, in talking pictures, on the stage, and on television. This book is frustrating as a memoir, because Pitts and Horton include NO dates and very few specific names of people, places or performances. However, as a cookbook for candy, it is satisfyingly specific. Candy Hits begins with four basic candy recipes: Chocolate Fudge, Divinity, Panocha, and Molasses Taffy. It progresses through chocolate dipping, fondant, nougat, marshmallows, and pralines. There’s a special chapter on candies for various holidays.

This is a hard cover book with its dust jacket. 93 pages. Nearly mint condition. Just a bit of shelf wear along the edges.
