What to Cook for Company without the Dust Cover, by Lenore Sullivan. First published in 1952 by The Iowa State University Press, this is from the third printing, 1954. Hundreds of recipes included. 530 pages. Ms. Sullivan taught catering classes at Iowa State, and this book is the result! The cookbook is in excellent vintage condition. The pages are uniformly tanned. Most are clear and clean, with the exception of the cranberry-orange salad, which has a major splash, and two cake recipe pages, which are very brown. The binding is loose, but holding. NO dust cover.

Wonderful recipes written with a lively, conversational style. The reason I love this cookbook: Sullivan’s many asides (in italics,) often with a funny story. Often she tells a story that was told to her by one of her students. See VintageCookbook’s Recipes section for a student’s lovely story about the ceremony of making polenta in her family.
