Description
Twelve Days of Christmas Cookbook, 1965: Sophisticated and cosmopolitan holiday recipes that appeal to the lover of the traditional. Cookbook written by Suzanne Huntley and illustrated by Milton Glaser. Recommended by none other than James Beard! Published by Atheneum, New York, in 1965. Hard cover with dust jacket. 143 pages. This copy in excellent vintage condition. The dust jacket has shelf wear and small tears.
This cookbook has traditional drink recipes like buttered rum and champagne punch, lots of ring recipes (see our recipes section for the Roquefort Ring recipe,) recipes for the last fast of Advent, the first feast of Christmas, and Curry for Twelfth Night. On the whole, the recipes are remarkably simple and easy to follow. Huntley is not above using canned or frozen products when it suits.
At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
And don’t forget to click on “Recipes” at the top of the VintageCookbook.com Homepage. You’ll find one great recipe from many of the great antique and vintage cookbooks, including Twelve Days of Christmas Cookbook!
