I have tried to show that good wine can be made in small quantities and with simple equipment.” This is a difficult-to-find hard back copy still with its dust jacket. Originally published in 1957, this is a first printing copy of the revised edition, published in 1963. Published by Elliot Right Way Books, Kingswood Surrey. Has 122 pages plus some pages of advertising for other right way books. The dust jacket is in excellent vintage condition, with moderate shelf wear and some fading of the spine. Every page is clean and clear. The binding is firm.
Mrs. Gennery-Taylor or Peggy Frances, in Part I, has general chapters on the art of making wine, the containers to use, how to fill the bottles, basic amounts and methods. Part II has information on wine as remedies, Christmas drinks, a calendar for wine-making. Part III has wine recipes. Part IV has recipes for blackberry cordial, ginger beer, mead, cider, beer, and fruit syrups. Part V has recipes for children’s drinks, teas and coffee. The wine recipes include apple wine, apricot wine, barley wine, beetroot wine, blackberry wine, blackcurrant, plum wine, carrot wine, cherry wine, clove carnation wine, coltsfoot wine, cowslip wine, damson wine, dandelion wine, elderberry wine, elderflower wine, fig wine, ginger wine, gooseberry wine, grape wine, and many, many more.
