Chattanooga Cook Book, 1970, Helen McDonald Exum, First Edition, Later Printing. Nearly Mint Condition. A cookbook, I’m sure, worth its weight in gold to students of Chattanooga history. This copy is from the self-published second edition with linen-covered boards and 409 pages. The Chattanooga Cook Book was a McDonald family project that became an international success with notice like a full-color feature in McCall’s Magazine. It is a solid general cookbook with recipes for everything from soups and eggs to beverages and memorable dinners. Along with almost every recipe are paragraphs, sometimes full pages of local stories about people, places and events where this food was served, often accompanied by photographs of local people and places. (McDonald Exum must have known every single Chattanooga resident!)
This copy is in nearly mint condition. The dust jacket is gone. The cover is in excellent vintage condition with very minor shelf wear. The hinges rae perfect, binding is firm, and every page is clean and clear.
