Pillsbury Kitchens’ Cookbook, 1979: This binder edition of the famous 1979 Pillsbury Kitchens’ Cookbook is in almost as-if-new condition. The cover is in unusually good. Two pages in the muffin/scones chapter have water damage and hand writing. The rest of the pages are absolutely clean. Some of the tab dividers are missing, although their little plastic covers are still there. You could easily slip in hand written chapter titles. Really a fine copy. The Pillsbury Kitchens’ Cookbook was first published in 1979, but I think Pillsbury must have switched to this cover in mid-year and used it going forward. This binder is the fourth printing, 1982. The editor is Renee Dignan, and the cookbook was published by The Pillsbury Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
