Come into the Kitchen Cook Book: a Collector’s Treasury of America’s Great Recipes, by Mary and Vincent Price. Published by Straven Educational Press, New York, 1969. Presumed first edition, first printing, no other being mentioned. Very large, beautifully written cookbook with lots and lots of Americana along with its recipes. Many full color pictures of “colonial” kitchens. Decorative color illustrations by Charles M. Wysocki.  Hard cover, with dust jacket, 212 pages. Book is in excellent vintage condition.   Binding is strong, hinges are intact, pages are clean and clear.  The dust jacket has a few minor dings, and now is encased in Mylar.

Chapters include Recipes of Early America, Recipes of the Young Republic, Recipes of Ante Bellum America, Recipes of the Westward Empire, Recipes of Victorian America, Recipes of Modern America, and Wine in America.  Wonderful sketches of American tools.  Many genuinely colonial American recipes. If you need a recipe for scrapple, or tipsy cake or Mrs. Madison’s Whim, it’s in the Young Republic” chapter.
