American Menu Maker Restaurant Recipes, 1934, G. L. Wenzel: I think this is the first volume of what became Wenzel’s Menu Maker. Heavy boards are covered with black linen and fastened with metal screws. The title paper is glued onto the front of the book. Cover has shelf wear, especially at the edges and corners. Page dividers are here, with tabs that are rounded and frayed. Many pages have small penciled checks in the margins, and all the pages are uniformly tanned. With the exception of the light checkmarks and underlining, all pages are clean and clear.
Every recipe listed in a menu is included here. About 200 pages with 6684.1 recipes crammed on those pages. These old fashioned recipes–with no cautions for the amount of sugar, salt and fat used–are amazing. See the recipe for Deep Dish Blackberry Pie!
