Description
Art of Cooking and Serving, by Sarah Field Splint, published by Procter and Gamble, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1929. First edition. 252 pages. Many (for the time) full-color photographs. Excellent condition! (Marked down from $38.00.) You can learn what kind of napkins you should use for what sorts of meals, what kind of functions you can plan if you only have a maid or if you have butler–not to mention where to place the finger bowls! Here’s the part that amuses me: “A wise mother will encourage her girls and boys to assume this share of family responsibilities [serving as maids or butlers,] and will cultivate their pride in doing their task well and in saving her so many steps.” Published in connection with Crisco.
