Mrs. C.H. Leonard’s Cook Book, 1923: This cookbook was a family affair. Published by Grand Rapids Refrigerator Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, which Mrs. Leonard’s husband, C. H. Leonard, owned. He was head of the largest refrigerator manufacturing business in the world. (I assume that was the Grand Rapids Refrigerator Company.) Mrs. Leonard’s co-author, Mrs. W. H. Whittier, was her daughter. This is a hard cover, comprehensive cookbook with 252 pages. As you might have expected, the last articles in the cookbook are on Household Refrigeration, Air Circulation, Operating a Refrigerator, and Arrangement of Food in Lid and Overhead Icing Refrigerators, and Placing Food in Side Icing Refrigerators.
Mrs. C.H. Leonard’s Cook Book is relatively rare, but this copy is NOT in mint condition. The cover is very worn, with the title barely legible. The hinges are exposed, but holding. Some pages have light spots. The binding is still firm and the great majority of the pages are clean.
