Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book 1942, First Edition, First Printing. Wartime Post Script.

Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book 1942: Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book, with introductions by editors Willa Roberts and Dorothy Kirk. Published by P.F. Collier and Son Corporation, New York. First edition, copyrighted in 1942. Presumed first printing, no other being mentioned.  Roberts’ introduction mentions this being the first year of publication.  Includes the Wartime Postscript. Yes, this is the cream-colored hard cover edition. Hard cover, 951 pages. All the pages are clean and clear, with the exception of a 1/4″ spot on the lemon pie page.  The binding is sound.  The hinges are intact.  The cover has shelf wear, especially at the edges.  The spine cover is tanned.  I’d say this is gift quality, especially if the receiver is a really nice person.  It’s one of the best copies we’ve ever had!
