Winterthur’s Culinary Collection: Sampler of Fine American Cooking, 1988: Cookbook compiled by Anne Beckley Coleman from The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum. Published in 1988 in association with Galison Books. Card stock cover with plastic comb binding. 198 pages. Pages are all very heavy, clay coated paper. Cookbook is in nearly mint condition. Cover has a very slight amount of shelf wear. Pages are all perfect. Definitely gift quality.
All the food pictured in this cookbook is displayed in china and crystal from the Winterthur’s own collection. The Chinese porcelain shown in the image here was made between 1785 and 1810; there’s a pierced fruit basket and tray, covered tureen and platter. The horn and steel knives were made in England or the United States between 1820-50. I wonder who had to do the dishes when the photographs were finished. Wouldn’t you be nervous?
