Published in 1913 by the Bobbs-Merrill Company, Publishers, Indianapolis. Hard cover book with linen covered boards. 175 pages. First edition, first printing copy in excellent antique condition. Cover has light shelf wear, particularly on the corners and edges. Six pages are heavily tanned because newspaper clippings were stored in the book. Other pages are lightly and uniformly tanned. All pages are clean and clear, with no writing, no notes, no stains. Hinges are in excellent condition. Binding is solid. This antique, first printing cookbook is perfect for gift giving.
“Willy Lou” is a pseudonym, of course. The book was written by Charlotte Amelia Cheesebro Hough. The book has many housekeeping tips and is a comprehensive compilation of simplistic recipes. There’s an interesting chapter on cooking in a paper bag!
