Sunset Easy Basics for Good Cooking, published by the Lane Publishing Co., Menlo Park, California, 1982. Stated first edition, second printing. Written by Janet Johnson Nix and Elaine R. Woodard and the staff of Sunset Books. Soft cover, large format, wire comb binding. 192 pages. This cookbook is VERY difficult to find; my guess is that–since it has a soft cover– it fell apart easily. But, since it is a seriously good cook book, people want to replace their copies. This first edition copy is in mint condition! The cover has rounded edges, but the pages are perfect! (Marked down from $130.00.)
If your sister, your mother, your friend, or your colleague asks you where you find your rare, first edition, antique cookbooks, please tell him or her: VintageCookbook.com. At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
