Spice Islands Cook Book, as you might suspect, includes a brief history of spices, as well as general instructions on how to use spices, lengthy discussions of all the major spices and instructions on how to use each. Interestingly, arrowroot is discussed and included in many recipes. Arrowroot isn’t included in most contemporary recipes. I have no idea why. I’ve been using it a lot lately in soups–and love it!
Spice Islands Cook Book is an excellent cookbook for the beginning cook or a more experienced cook who literally wants to spice up his or her cooking!
