Soul Food Cookery, 1968, Inez Yeargan Kaiser:    90-page, very difficult-to-find cookbook with genuine soul food recipes.  Published by Pitman Publishing Corporation, New York, with a heavy paper cover and plastic comb binding.   This cookbook is in excellent vintage condition, with just some light shelf wear and some very minor discoloration of the tabs on the divider pages.  The 90 pages don’t include the index of recipes nor the pages of cooking hints like “Common Causes of Failure in Baking” or “Herbs and Seeds.”    Cookbook contains chapters on beverages and sandwiches, soups and salads, vegetables, casseroles and one dish meals, party and T. V. snacks, seafoods, rolls and breads, cakes and frostings, plus pies, pastries and desserts.  (I found the recipe for Peach Cobbler!  The Sweet Potato Pie recipe is in our recipe file, here:  You’ll be happy with this one!

An interesting note:  Kaiser was the first Black woman to start and run a national public relations firm.
