Description

Settlement Cook Book, 1951, Excellent Vintage Condition! Thirtieth Edition:  This copy of the Settlement Cook Book is in very good condition! The cover of the book is darn near perfect.  The hinges are in excellent shape, as is the binding.  There’s a spot on the title page, and spots on the French salad dressing page.  Other that those exceptions, every page is clean and clear.  This historic cookbook was compiled by Mrs. Simon Kander and published by the Settlement Cook Book Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.   I doubt if anyone ever used this cookbook.  (After the French dressing was mixed, that is.)  Hard cover with 624 pages.  Definitely gift quality! Better than these images, actually, because there are smudges on the scanner! Yes, this is the “way to a man’s heart” cookbook!

Please don’t forget to click on “Recipes” at the top of the VintageCookbook.com Homepage. You’ll find one great recipe from many of the great antique cookbooks, including the Settlement Cook Book!

At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
