Royal Recipes from the Cajun Country, 1969, John and Glenna Uhler: Charming and often funny cookbook written by two librarians from Plaquemine, Louisiana in Southern Louisiana. Published by Claitor’s Publishing Division, Baton Rouge. Paper cover with plastic comb binding. 228 pages. This copy is from the first edition, first printing. It is in nearly mint condition. There’s a smudge on the front cover. Other than that, it is perfect. Comb binding is perfect. All the pages are completely clear and clean.
The cookbook is written as a story about King Culinary and the Kingdom of Dum-Sum-Ove. It has recipes for Breads, Desserts, Dressings, Fowl, Hors D’Oeuvres, Meats, Salads, Sauces, Seafoods, and Vegetables, all woven into stories and anecdotes about King Culinary’s activities. The recipes are sprinkled with household hints and very nice pen-and-ink illustrations. (Unfortunately, the illustrator’s name isn’t listed.) Definitely gift quality and definitely a great gift!
