This cookbook is written in an opinionated, conversational tone, almost as if the author were dictating it. The many asides, little jokes, references to religion, suggestions on simplifications are very entertaining. His recipes are ecclectic and scattered throughout the book, as if random. If you like that style, you will love this book.
