Carson, the author of best-selling The Sea Around Us, 1951, and Silent Spring, 1962, among other well-known works. Her work inspired a national grassroots environmental movement and caused a reversal in national pesticide policy, including a nationwide ban of DDT. Carson began her career as an aquatic biologist with the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries. This booklet is from a series of Conservation Bulletin booklets she wrote while employed there. Not a cookbook, this booklet identifies 22 fish and shellfish varieties, each with a carefully drawn picture. It does provide information on the nutritive value of fish and shellfish and general guides for selecting and preparing fish. Published by the United States Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. i1945. 32 pages. It is in excellent vintage condition. Paper cover shows some slight shelf wear.
