Description

Puerto Rican Cookery, 1975, 2008, Carmen Aboy Valldejuli, Illustrated by Mequel Pou.

Puerto Rican Cookery by Carmen Aboy Valldejuli. First published in 1975, this copy was printed in 2008. Cited as “a revised and enlarged edition of the art of Caribbean cookery.” First published by Pelican Publishing Company, Gretna, 1975. Hard cover with dust jacket. 389 pages. Book is in mint, never opened condition. This copy is in PRISTINE condition. Both book and dust jacket in pristine condition. Not only does it have what are considered the classic Puerto Rican recipes, it also has a wonderful chapter on rum drinks.

These recipes feature ingredients that seem exotic to those of us in Wisconsin. Seems like every other recipe contains plantains. Many of the recipes are for more than four people. And they seem like very physical recipes. That is, there are lots of active verbs in these recipes, like “pounding,” “stirring constantly,” with the italics added by the author. Classic recipes!
