Description
Ornamental Confectionery and The Art of Baking, 1893: Ornamental Confectionery and The Art of Baking was first published in 1893 by Herman Hueg. This copy is from that first edition, first printing. The book was revised, reprinted and reissued many, many times. It is printed in English for the first half of the volume, then repeated in German for the last half of the volume. Hard cover with deeply and intricately embossed maroon boards, and with elegant gold lettering. At the back of the book are many elegant patterns for candy and icing, along with advertisements for more baking cookbooks by Herman Hueg, and ads for baking and candy-making machines he designed. At the very back of the book are candy recipes, in English. The English portion of the book has 151 pages. The boards, spine, binding, and pages of this book all show considerable wear and the pages have quite a few spots. The front and back fly leaves have been expertly replaced.
