Fine Old New England Recipes with Hand Painted Wooden Cover, 1971, Culinary Arts: Paperback cookbook (see image) by Culinary Arts Press entitled, New England Cookbook: 300 Fine Old Recipes, first published in 1966. This copy printed in 1971. Cookbook then encased in hand carved and hand painted wooden cover with the title, Fine Old New England Recipe. Wooden cover probably by Three Mountaineers, since that company made many wooden covers for many Culinary Arts cookbooks.
The booklet claims, “Characteristic dishes and a salty charm; individuality, dainty sketches; spells New England to me.” Compiled and edited by Kay Morrow, assisted by Pauline Dubin, with decorations by Florence Bowe and others. Cookbook stresses New England’s contribution of Thanksgiving to United States’ culinary heritage. It also provides complete instructions for a New England clam bake, along with many clam recipes. Cookbook is in nearly mint condition. There’s a tiny bit of shelf wear on the cover. The 48 pages are completely clean and clear, with the caveat that the pages are slightly and universally tanned at the edges. Great gift! Totally gift quality.
