My Most Successful Recipes, Lulu Thompson Silvernail, 1925, First Edition Presumed First Printing: Silvernail was the domestic science teacher for the Southwestern Milling Company, Inc., Kansas City, Mo. She self-published several cookbooks through the same company, under the name “S. and H. Cook Book.” This was one of her first, published in 1925. Beautifully embossed hard cover, like a fine book of poems, in olive green and gold. 288 pages. Front and back hinges have been reinforced with clear librarian’s tape. Good antique condition. A few pages have very small stains. Binding is tight. General shelf wear on the cover. This cookbook is very difficult to find.
Silvernail taught Domestic Science Classes in the use of Hard Winter Wheat Short Patent Flour. “The recipes given in this book have been tested not only by Mrs. Silvernail, but have been used most successfully by hundreds of women who have attended her classes.”
