Mrs. John G. Carlisle’s Kentucky Cook Book, 1893, in Astonishingly Good Condition!: Rare antique cookbook with the subtitle “Containing Original Recipes Never Before Published.” Other authors included Mrs. Walter Q. Gresham, Mrs. General Crook, Mrs. W. A. Dudley, and others. Published by F. Tennyson Neely, Publisher, Chicago, in 1893. Dedicated to the Women of Kentucky Especially, and to Housewives All Over This Land. Hard cover book with linen covered boards embossed with the title in gold and with two graceful crysanthemums. 249 pages, beautifully printed on heavy, clay-coated paper, with just one or two recipes on a page.
Contains recipes for soups, fish, meats, bread and biscuits, pastry, cakes, and sundries. Makes no pretense about being a comprehensive cookbook. Just includes the recipes these authors found to be special.
This cookbook is in amazing antique condition. I’m including an image of inside front cover and first page, so you can see the great condition of the hinges. Binding is perfect. Hinges are perfect. All the pages are clean and clear. Cover has just a slight bit of shelf wear and stain. Definitely gift quality–for someone you really love!
