Mary Frances Cook Book or Adventures Among the Kitchen People, 1912, First Edition, First Printing with Dust Jacket

$186.00

Description

Mary Frances Cook Book or Adventures Among the Kitchen People, by Jane Eayre Fryer, with gorgeous illustrations by Margaret G. Hays and Jane Allen Boyer. Published by The John C. Winston Co., Philadelphia, in 1912. Presumed first edition, first printing, no other being mentioned. Hard cover. 175 pages, with several charming illustrations on every page. “A book for all little girls who love to help Mother.” Pages are all clean and clear. One page as a little piece torn off the edge, smaller than a dime. Page 112 has a 3″ tear at the top.  The binding of one folio is loose, but holding.  The rest of the binding is perfect.  The hinges are intact.  The dust jacket has quite a bit of shelf wear, but it is still whole.  The back of the jacket is especially interesting, because it lists all of the Mary Frances books.

The cover of the cookbook is in spectacularly good condition, since it has been protected by the dust jacket.  Picture on the front of the cover shows Mary Frances dancing with the Kitchen People: Toaster Man, Baking Dish and Potato Masher, Platter and Ladle, Frying Pan and Basket, Perforated Skimmer and Can Opener, Round and Square Cake Tins, Iron Griddle and Little Pitcher, Fork, Knife and Spoon. The most charming child’s cookbook of all!
