Mama’s Meichulim: Traditional Jewish Cooking Made Easy, 1960, Sadie H. Rivkin. First Edition, First Printing:  Small, hard cover book with dust jacket, published in 1960 by Thomas Toseloff, Publisher, New York.  With dust jacket.  Dust jacket has shelf wear, as you can see.  Book is in nearly mint condition.  Hinges are perfect.  Binding is perfect.  All 158 pages are completely clean and clear.  This cookbook was never used.  Great gift!

Rivkin was a Russian immigrant, coming to the United States when she was eight years old.  She graduated from law school, practiced law with her husband, then raised three children.  During World War II, she was a volunteer worker at the naval base in Bayonne, New Jersey.  She also started a class for and taught traditional Jewish cooking.  I love cookbooks that not only tell you there are various ways to cook standard dishes, but also give you recipes for those various ways.  In this cookbook, Rivkin gives us not three or four but eleven recipes for noodle kugel!
