Description

Fisherman’s Wharf Cook Book, 1955, Morrison Wood: Cookbook compiled and written by Morrison Wood, who was the author the “For Men Only” column published in the Chicago Daily Tribune, as well as the author of at least two more cookbooks, With a Jug of Wine, 1949, and More Recipes with a Jug of Wine, 1956.  (See these cookbooks at https://vintagecookbook.com/product/jug-wine-1949/  and https://vintagecookbook.com/product/recipes-jug-wine/.  As you might expect, the recipes in Fisherman’s Wharf Cook Book are all seafood recipes, and Morrison said he tried to provide the most unusual recipe from each restaurant.  So, you get recipes like Cioppino Alioto, Rock Cod Cioppino with Crabs, Clams, and Prawns, and Alioto’s Special Shellfish Bouillabaisse.  There’s a wonderful chapter on Fish and Fish Sauces.

This cook book was published by Brown & Nourse, San Carlos, California, in 1955.  It is a hard back book with 244 pages.  Morrison is a chatty, entertaining writer and the book is charming.  This is a first edition, first printing copy.  Messy dust jacket.  All pages are clear and clean.  Binding is sound.  Excellent vintage condition.
