Description

Favorite Recipes from Famous People, 1950, Alexandria, Louisiana and Jackson County, North Carolina: Hard back book self-published by the Jackson County (North Carolina) Home Demonstration Council and the Palmer Luncheon Club of Alexandria, Louisiana in 1950.  Compiled mainly by Minnie Dills Gray, Dillsboro, North Carolina.  The Palmer Luncheon Club apparently had the original idea to do a cookbook, but Ms. Gray arranged the cooperation of the Home Demonstration Council.

The book has 112 pages, with the last few pages being local advertising, mainly from North Carolina.  Every page is clean and clear.  The binding is sound and tight.  The hinges are perfect.  The cover has minor shelf wear, but it is in excellent vintage condition.  The cookbook is quite rare, very difficult to find.

The cookbook has an odd and rather charming arrangement.  The first section, without a title, has recipes from notably famous people, like Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, Mrs. Sara Roosevelt, Mrs. Eugenie Anderson, the first United States ambassador, William M. Tuck, governor of Virginia, and more.  The next section is recipes from North Carolina, then Louisiana, then Mississippi.  The last section is Yeasts and Breads.
